An average carbon footprint of hotel room's emissions is about 10 tonnes of CO2 per bedroom per year. Significant part of the emissions are from electricity consumption by central external units for climate control equipment (literally air conditioning) of hotel rooms.
* Derived from GHG Fact Sheet: Hotels, Ecometrica. Study assumes that the hotels have air conditioning and no pool in all calculations. All hotels are assumed to have 'typical' energy consumption rates.
